Students will learn how to improve the quality of their writing through attention to word choice and vocabulary. The class will be structured in an informal manner, as follows: 1.Students will share a piece of original writing. 2. Students and I will discuss strategies for vocabulary enrichment. 3. With teacher guidance, students will revise their work with a focus on revised word choice. 4. Students and I will review the revised writing samples with an informal assessment of improved...
Students will learn strategies for improving their vocabulary and word choice in original writing selections.
I have taught middle school reading and writing for 20 years. I am a writer for my local newspaper, and my essays have won awards at the local and national level.
There is no homework assigned.
Students will need to bring a piece of original writing to the class session.
Assessment will be informal, and will be provided via a comparison of pre-revision and post-revision writing samples.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Content is appropriate for the selected age group.
Revision exercises will be based on student content and vocabulary selections provided by the teacher.
English, math, reading film, and improv, and of course....games!
