Improve Reading & Writing Skills - Facts VS Opinion Kahoot Game! (Licensed Reading Teacher)
What's included
1 live meeting
35 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one-time class, students will build essential foundational skills in order to identify, evaluate, and compare facts and opinions. We will begin class with an informal discussion where students can share facts and opinions about their favorite things (opinion-based statements.) This discussion will be followed by an interactive introduction to facts and opinions with an opportunity for students to practice making factual statements and opinion-based statements about the examples shown in the google slides presentation. The second half of class will include an interactive "Kahoot" game where students will choose whether or not the given statement is a fact or an opinion. Students will leave this class with a solid understanding of how to distinguish between a fact and an opinion. We will use real-world examples as the basis of our study in order to determine whether or not written and spoken statements are factual or opinion-based. By developing a strong understanding of how facts and opinions differ, students will ultimately strengthen their reading and writing skills in language arts and other subject areas. ___________________________________ This class touches on standards included in first grade, second grade, third grade, and fourth grade reading curriculums. This class is best suited for students in 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and 4th grade, although it may also be a great match for students slightly above or below those levels.
Learning Goals
At the conclusion of this class, students will be able to effectively distinguish between a factual statement and an opinion-based statement.
