Students will learn techniques to use when practicing listening and reading comprehension. We will practice inferring and predicting and stopping every so often to make sure we understand the story and sequence of events.

This class will improve listening comprehension and teach children techniques on how to improve their reading comprehension too. Students will be asked to predict and infer during the reading. At the end of the story we will recall characters, setting and theme. We will also summarize using beginning, middle and end questions. Reading and Listening comprehension skills will grow through read aloud and guided reading. The students will learn techniques on how to improve their reading comprehension abilities.
As you read stories at home stop and ask yourself questions to test your comprehension. Predict and infer during your independent reading! (optional)
black paper a paper plate cut in half a crayon used for skin color of our troll (any color will do). different colored chalk I will be reading the story Trouble With Trolls by Jan Brett. If you want to pick up a copy at the library or local bookstore your child will be able to read along as a guided reading activity. This book will be enjoyed many times over! (optional)
