Class Experience
**PLEASE NOTE:** This class requires on-screen participation, if this class format is not possible for your student to do with other other learners, please inquire about private improv tutoring. Week One: Characters • We will practice crafting new and innovative characters with specific points of view off the tops of their heads. Week Two: Spacework • We will practice the art of pantomime and specificity within our movements, which will help create realism in scenes. This will boost...
Students will be confident improvisers, able to collaborate with any person or teammate. They will come out feeling funny, creative, and with a passion for discovery. This class is full of laughter which is critical for a child's development as well as mental clarity and well being. They'll be able to see options and trajectories and boost their understanding of empathy and different points of view. Plus, they'll feel like a comedic rock star.
Joy Mamey is professional comedian and improv comedy teacher. Based in Los Angeles, Joy is on the main company of ComedySportz Los Angeles, performs regularly at Second City Hollywood, the Pack Theatre, Impro Studio and more. She's a writer and producer whose work has been featured on the front page of WhoHaha.com and at the Comedy Central Stage.
