Class Experience

Making a funny remark on your feet in front of strangers is intimidating. Luckily for us, good improv isn't only about making well-timed jokes or being the funniest person in the room. For some, learning improv comedy can even reduce social anxiety.

Improv Acting Games for Shy People starts with an activator and introductions and is followed by a series of 8-10 improv acting games. This class is a safe space for those of us who have a tendency toward shyness to try out improv through supportive teacher-led games and exercises. From classic "yes and" exercises to more novel virtual scavenger hunt games, the lovely thing about these energizing improvised-theater activities is that we are all expected, and even encouraged, to make mistakes fun. Given the nature of this class, my teaching style is centered around building a supportive and accepting community that intentionally and actively includes every learner's unique strengths along the way.

This workshop's activities and games are specially crafted to focus on lifting the next person up (instead of competing with them)! By the end of each session, learners will feel more comfortable with ambiguity and authentically connected to others in the class.
