1-2 hours per week. Depending on the lesson topic there will be homework week to week which may consist of activities to practice their oral comprehension skills. Some homework will be interactive to help learners prepare for an upcoming lesson. Learners can expect 30-45 minutes depending on the week to help them retain and practice. Google classroom will be used to support the students accessing lesson content for review.Assessment
There will be an introductory assessment to determine the skill level of the student so the lesson topics can be scaffolded accordingly or similar levelled learners. There will also be assessments of homework when submitted to the teacher by due date.Class Experience
Beginner Level
The class will give students the opportunity to learn key concepts in French over the course of a year. This is the second of 4 sessions for year-long French content instruction. **Each week there will be a different French topic or grammar concept covered permitting new French speakers to continue with new material every week. Immersive French 2, 3, 4 will be offered consecutively based on learner interest. **Refer to the syllabus for an outline of what will be covered in Immersive French 2. This class will be taught primarily in English, however based on the learner engagement and comprehension the level of French in class will be scaffolded accordingly by class. **Classes will be offered for 4-10 learners to provide more options to take Immersive French 2, where spots have previously limited. Video content will allow for maximum class interactivity and opportunity to practice in class. **Week to week learners will enhance their knowledge through interactive tools such as Kahoot, online videos and other relevant materials as required. The lessons will be in a flipped classroom model with a lesson video providing approximately 15-25 minutes in addition to class time. **(Current order of lessons is subject to adjustment to build students learning level appropriately or depending on learners skill and ability in class, content may be expanded) **Each week there will be a specific grammar focus or verb to help learners understand the content. When appropriate there will be a focus on appropriate proper French pronunciation. Active participation is key. The goal as the teacher for this class will be to: • To provide French instruction and introduce and build on new concepts to budding French learners • Build the skills of novice French learners in some fundamental concepts where they may need more support • Build an interest in learning French language through simple clear, instruction that is fun and approachable. The goal is to build language retention and increase engagement through weekly class participation. • Build supportive relationships with students to encourage their French skills and overall confidence. Learning Goals
Students will learn the French essentials as a new learner of the language and build weekly skills and confidence to support their ability to join the weekly conversation class to practice their oral skills on the same subject matter.

This lesson will teach learners how to say some key countries, provinces and states along with learning the colours in French to describe their favourite flags.

French adjectives and understanding accents
This lesson will teach learners how to use adjectives in French along with the agreement necessary. The bonus lesson is how to use accents in French and the different sounds they make.

Bachelor's Degree in Foreign Language from York University
I 've taught consistently on the Outschool platform since 2020 with my primary focus on French instruction for all levels. I offer 1:1 classes, group class learning with Immersive French and conversational classes. Teaching French is what I love to do and I will bring warmth, enthusiasm and fun to the classroom with an opportunity for students to interact, learn and feel comfortable as we learn.
During day, my role as community relations leader in healthcare brings me the joy and opportunity to teach, mentor and see learners of all ages develop every day. I look forward to offering leadership classes in the near future.
I've taught well over 3,500 English & French classes. My path to French started in kindergarten as a child in French Immersion. I eventually pursued my Honours Bachelor's degree in French Studies and Communications. I have spoken French for over 25 years. I am fully bilingual and have tutored all ages -- from children to adults. I also hold my TESOL certification.
My experience is varied and allows me to bring well-rounded perspective from sports and fitness, hospitality, broadcast media, non-profit and healthcare. I will bring this perspective to my lessons to help students apply and learn new things.

I am a passionate teacher willing to help and support students in a practical way. My approach will be to help students connect the dots and make online learning fun and engaging!
My goal is to bring my creativity, enthusiasm and big SMILES to the classroom to help engage and support your child to learn, feel inspired and gain confidence.
Some of my passions include travelling (to France of course), writing, cooking and podcasting.
