Immersion Mandarin Chinese Conversation | Story Time: Picture Books 看繪本
What's included
1 live meeting
25 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
In this ongoing class, learners will practice Mandarin Chinese by engaging in story book-inspired discussions. This immersion class will use 100% Mandarin Chinese. This is for intermediate Mandarin Chinese learners who can have and understand simple conversations. For each class, I will read and flip through a hand-picked picture book. Learners will be invited to discuss what they see in the pictures, predict the story plot, and summarize what they've heard. (The books will be in traditional Mandarin Chinese with/without zhuyin - please note that the goal is NOT to recognize characters or read, but to practice listening, speaking, and critical thinking). The goal is to expose learners to an environment where Mandarin Chinese is used so they can be comfortable in their language learning journey. Learners are welcomed to just sit back and listen, or raise their hand to actively participate. Depending on current events/happenings, the topic will be dictated weekly. There will be no materials needed. *Please note that the topics rotate on a weekly basis. Different sections within the same week will cover the same topics. For example, Friday's class will use the same topic as Sunday's class.* Sample topics: Week 1: 蠟筆小黑小小小白 (Black and white crayon) Week 2: 小狗比非跳巴雷 (Ballet Dog) Week 3: 大象坐公車 (Elephant Riding a Bus) Week 4: 獅子一起去上學 (Lion to School) Week 5: 動物溫泉 (Animal Hot Spring) W6: 小狗阿疤想變羊 (Dog Wants to Become a Sheep) W7: 我想要零用錢 (I Want Some Allowance) W8: 棕熊先生出任務 (Brown Bear's Mission) W9: 傳說河裡有個獨眼怪 (Legendary One-eye Monster) W10: 超神奇牙膏 (Magic toothpaste) To be decided Due to copyright issues, video recordings will not be shared.
