Class Experience

**This is a continuation from Part I. Please take the 1st Imagined Kingdoms course before joining so you will have the materials needed to do this Part II course.

*Note: some courses are 4x in one week - and some run 1x over four weeks. You can choose which works best for your schedule - click on "Show all 4 meetings" for time details.

In this 4-lesson course you will use the materials you created in the previous Imagined Kingdoms course as a reference guide for further development. You will use each lesson to write a unique story expanding the geography and inhabitants of your kingdom.

Over four lessons you develop your kingdom and storyline through different scenarios:
1. History: You review your kingdom's geography and inhabitants to create a longer backstory of conflict and resolutions
2. Characters: You develop individual characters. Your two main characters meet and we learn how they react
3. Economy: You map a trader's journey across your kingdom and develop a currency and new technologies
4. Laws: You write about a celebration and an incident that exposes the laws and punishment for not following an important rule

At the end of the course your imagined kingdom will have more developed characters and several unique plotlines. You now have an ideal foundation for writing a book, film, TV series or computer game. You might have started to migrate your kingdom online to World Anvil.

Supply List
Each student needs to bring the map and materials from the previous Imagined Kingdoms course. In addition they benefit from having a notebook for writing and drawing, or a folder to keep the kingdom writing organised in one place. We will be writing and drawing so please bring different pens, pencils, colours, etc. to write and sketch with.

Recommended for serious kingdom builders: sign up for your free World Anvil account before the course starts. This website helps you keep your writing online in one place where you can share it with others.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a qualified schoolteacher and teach English, German and French, fostering a curiosity about different cultures and ways of life. I have taken many school classes to explore historical sites around London, the city where I live and work, and ask students to consider how the past impacts modern life, and express their observations in writing. I am fascinated by royal myths and legends and spend many weekends exploring the city’s hidden corners and cultural landmarks and have invented several imagined worlds based on these artefacts.
I am also a trained artist and visual storyteller and bring historic facts alive through highlighting cultural details and drawing students into discussions. I encourage students to sharpen their analytical skills when they imagine a fantasy version of history and to create a consistent cultural and economic model as a foundation for their imagined kingdoms.
