Class Experience

US Grade 1
🌞 This class will introduce young learners to different perspectives on math. It will tap into their imagination as they explore fundamental math concepts and develop flexibility in thinking. Children are drawn into the world of math as they resonate with the stories and their lively characters!

🌟 The “Imagine Math” course is a creative way to work with the four early-stage math operations. Introducing the four operations as a whole allows the children to see how they are all related.

🤸‍♀️ Each class begins with songs, verses, counting and movement. This will help the children feel fully awake and enthusiastic, and keep them motivated throughout class. The children will then listen to short adventure stories of the four math gnomes. The stories include word problems or “number journeys” which inspire the basic arithmetic exercises. Every one of the gnomes embodies a math operation which goes hand in hand with its distinct comical personality. The young learners will have an opportunity to put into drawings what they learn from the gnomes.

🖐 To join this class, students should be able to recognize numbers and count on their own from 0 – 50. They will use manipulatives before proceeding to abstract numbers. The exercises will adapt to the abilities of each group. Children who have had some exposure to addition and subtraction will benefit from this course.

📅
