Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 2
🌞 The “Imagine Math” series will introduce young learners to different perspectives on math. It will tap into their imagination as they explore fundamental math concepts and develop flexibility in thinking. Children are drawn into the world of math as they resonate with the stories and their lively characters!

🌟 "The Story of Place Value" draws from storytelling and images to help children comprehend a fundamental math concept.

🤸‍♀️ Each class begins with songs, verses, counting and movement. This will help the children feel fully awake and enthusiastic, and keep them motivated throughout class. The children will then listen to short adventure stories of the math gnomes and other characters. The stories include word problems or “number journeys” which inspire the basic arithmetic exercises. Students will use manipulatives such as popsicle sticks to visually work with the concept of place value. They will then have an opportunity to put into drawings what they learn from the stories.

🖐 To join this class, students should be able to recognize numbers and count on their own from 0 – 100. They will need to have manipulatives (see supply list). The exercises will adapt to the abilities of each group. Children who have taken "The Story of the Four Operations" will benefit from this course.
