Description
Class Experience
Student will learn a brief history of Surrealist art. They will learn art theory in how to evaluate an image for its surrealist qualities and apply this knowledge to teh images in the children's picture book. Lately, they will create their own original work based on the sentence "Imagine a day . . "
If the work in not completed during our class time, I would encourage student to complete it on their own and of course I would love to see their finished product by emailing me a picture of their masterpiece to abertrand.outschool@gmail.com. However, this is completely optional as it is a one-time class.
I do not want you to have to go out and purchase anything just for this class. I would rather use what is available in the home. The student will need a surface to create on: computer paper, card stock, watercolor paper, canvas. The student will need some art materials to create the image: pencil, pen, markers, colored pencils, watercolor, acrylic paints, tempera paints.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The student's knowledge of surrealism will be displayed in their artwork as a culminating project to our mini lesson.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Images of historical Surrealist paintings will be chosen strategically to be age appropriate for the youngest students.
