Discovering the Magic of Words
Kick off the adventure with an engaging introduction to creative writing. Students will participate in fun icebreakers and word games to warm up their imaginations. They'll brainstorm favorite stories and authors, setting a positive, collaborative tone for the course and igniting curiosity about the endless possibilities of storytelling.
Lesson 2:
Crafting Characters and Building Worlds
In this session, students learn how to create memorable characters and vivid settings. Through guided exercises, they’ll explore character traits, motivations, and backstories while also learning techniques for world-building. This lesson encourages them to think deeply about the “who” and the “where” of their stories.
Lesson 3:
Plot and Conflict: The Heart of Your Story
Every great story needs a strong plot and compelling conflict. This lesson breaks down the elements of narrative structure—beginning, middle, and end—while emphasizing the importance of tension and challenges. Students will brainstorm plot ideas and map out basic story arcs that engage readers and drive the narrative forward.
Lesson 4:
Dialogue and Voice: Letting Your Characters Speak
Dialogue brings characters to life! In this lesson, students practice writing realistic conversations and develop distinct narrative voices for their characters. Through interactive activities, they learn how dialogue can reveal personality, advance the plot, and create authentic interactions between characters.
