Students will participate in a short discussion about artist Paul Cezanne. He is a well-known French artist who specialized in still life paintings. We will look specifically at one of Paul Cezanne's paintings and discuss why these paintings were created. We will also look at the process of these works of art and the materials that were used. Students will create their own imaginary still life using the materials they provide. I will be drawing along with the students. This is a step-by-step drawing class. I will be drawing with the students giving instructions. Learning Objectives Students will be able to: • learn the definition of a still life. • analyze a still life. • draw a still life I have attached an image that we will be discussing. The image above was created by a 5th grade student. The attached image is from the Met Museum collection. We will be discussing that image briefly during class. After the discussion we will work on our project. By the end of the class students will be familiar with Paul Cezanne and have a completed art piece.

Supply List
I try to keep cost at a minimum. I will be flexible with items and hope that you have some of them at home. White construction paper or sketchbook, preferably size 12x18 and a box of at least 24 quantity crayons. If you have other materials such as markers, colored pencils, or watercolor paints, I can show you how to complete the project using a variety of materials.
