Class Experience

Over 3 days, students will create a mini book about their favorite activities.

Lots of people dream of writing a book, the challenge is figuring out where to start! By listening to an author’s story of NOT writing a book, students will be inspired to create their own books about activities they enjoy.

Phyl Campbell is an author, editor, and publisher with nearly 20 years of book coaching experience for children as young as 6. She and her students and clients have published over 50 books on Amazon.

What Students Will Learn

Day 1: Students will listen, read along, and see the pictures of I’m Not Writing a Book Today by Phyl Campbell.

Day 2: Students will discuss activities they enjoy during their free time.

Students will choose activities to include in an illustrated book they will create.

Day 3: Students will create a 6-8 page book out of a single sheet of paper. (Paper foldables activity)

Students (with access to scanner, email, printer) may copy their book to share with friends.

Time Commitment:

50 minutes 3 times a week.

Homework:

No homework outside of class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the process of book writing and begin to work on a basic book about activities that they like. They will be able to ask questions as we go through the week and learn more about the process.
