This is a one-time class for beginning students interested in the piano. Students will learn basic information about the keys, correct posture, hand positions, and finger numbers. They will be able to play a simple melody by rote.

I am very excited to offer this class to young students who have interest in learning more about the piano. I began playing the piano when I was about 6 years old, and I have continued to love and play it all of my life! In this class for beginning music students, the children will learn how to sit correctly at the piano. They will also learn the correct finger numbers used in music, as well as how to play a simple melody on the piano. They will learn to tell the difference between high...
The student will be able to show others the correct posture at the piano, the difference between high and low notes, and the correct finger numbers to be used on the piano. They will be able to play a simple melody with their right hand on the piano.
I am a retired public school music teacher. I graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC with a Bachelors of Music Education. I have taught music to all grades in the public school system, but spent most of time in elementary and middle school music. I have taught private piano lessons for many years in my home to all ages, ranging from 5 years old to adults. I have taught online for more than 5 years and enjoy this a great deal! I am also certified in Reading and ESL and enjoy working with all ages of students.
