Student poets need not have any experience. Each week, we will explore a new type of poetry. The class is formatted such that the teacher will model creating the type of poem of the day, some examples will be shown, a brief discussion to check understanding will take place, and then students will create or “uncover” their poems! Volunteers may share their inspirational works with all. This class is great for those with little or lots of enthusiasm about poetry. Week 1) Autobiographical poem—...
Students may use digital devices but paper and pencil may be easier for some types of poetry. Please gather one or more old print magazines or newspapers for this class. Have pencils, magic markers, and scissors too!
