In this ongoing class, students will develop their reading skills with 1st grade level stories. Each class, we will practice a phonics pattern, decode words, and then read a story 2-3x to help develop fluency and confidence!
Class experience
Is your student reading at a 1st grade level? This class is for them! In this class, students will develop their recognition of 1st-grade phonics patterns (for example: vowel teams like "oi" and "aw", like in the words "point, straw, moist"), develop automaticity with sight words, and develop fluency in reading. I will provide a PDF of the story for students to print out before class. It will be posted in the classroom the morning of class, so please be prepared to print before class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
