Description

Class Experience

Students will learn about main characters in children's books by looking at some examples and reading a book together from a well known series (Pig the Pug, Don't let the Pigeon..., etc). We will also discuss different art mediums used to bring illustrations to life in these books. Together we will brainstorm traits of main characters and how they play into the story. Student will then work on creating and illustrating their own main character for a book. At the end of the class there will be...

Student will stretch their imagination to create and bring to life a character of their own creation

I have many years art teaching experience for children

Student will require paper for drawing and whatever drawing medium they choose or have at home (pencil, crayons, paint, pencil crayons, clay/playdoh)

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

We will refer to popular children's books for illustrations
