1 in-class hoursClass Experience
In this class we will learn about how Eric Carle made his famous illustrations in his children’s book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We will use this technique to make our very own collage illustrations! I will guide learners step by step in making two colorful works of art - a hungry caterpillar and a beautiful butterfly! We will spend the first class introducing our topic and painting lots of colorful abstract designs. At the end of the first class we will leave our paintings somewhere safe so that they can dry before our next class. In the second class, we will cut shapes out of our colorful paintings and glue them onto a new sheet of paper to create our beautiful caterpillar and butterfly collages. For this class you will need several sheets of white paper, any kind of paint (acrylic, watercolor, etc.), scissors, and a glue stick (or liquid glue). Let’s make art together!
