US Grade 1 - 4
Beginner - Intermediate Level
🐈⬛We love cats and often have cats join our classes! Let's draw what we love! This class will enhance observation skills and the understanding of proportion, shapes, and forms as we draw the full body of a cat or kitten. ✏️The difference between sketching and drawing will be discussed and demonstrated throughout the process. We’ll progress from sketching basic shapes to drawing a well-proportioned outline and end with a finished, shaded or colored drawing of an entire cat. We will teach how to add details and texture using a regular pencil, but the same techniques can be done with colored pencils for extra flair! 🐈Will yours be a solid color or do you like other colors and markings? Will it be fluffy or smooth? Each drawing will be unique!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I'm Amy Roadman, a PreK-12 Certified Art Teacher with 20+ years of experience and the owner of the Igniting Creativity Organization.
As a visual arts educator, I strive to bring creativity into the lives of others. I started taking art classes as a young child myself and I've never looked back. Being encouraged to be creative at a young age shaped my future.
At Igniting Creativity, we believe art and creativity can be taught, you don't have to start out with innate talent, but a desire to create and practice. So many of our students expect to be an expert after one drawing and are disappointed if they struggle at all during the process. Once they realize that other activities or sports that they participate in require a tremendous amount of practice before they play the first game or get up on a stage to perform, they understand that they don't have to put that kind of pressure on themselves and are then able to enjoy every step of the learning curve.
We can't wait to share our enthusiasm for art and the creative process with you!
