US Grade Preschool - Pre-Kindergarten
Join me in this one-time class where I will read "If You Take a Mouse to School by Laura Numeroff, your child will be encouraged to read the repetitive phrases along with me! Before reading, we will discuss the parts of a book. Next we will work together to put our crayon boxes together. This craftivity is meant to be an activity for young learners to reuse again and again to practice spelling their names. This is great for any child who is learning or who was been learning to spell their name. If time allows we will tally which "If You Give a ____ a ____" character is our favorite.
Learning Goals
Students will practice spelling their names with a fun crayon box printable.
Students will learn about the parts of a book.
Students will practice pre-reading skills such as reading from left to right and top to bottom.
Students will understand words represent a spoken word and convey a message.
Students will answer simple questions about the story.
Students will describe elements in a story, for example, characters and/or setting (time, place, and/or environment).

Parental Guidance
Parental guidance for scissors if the crayons and crayon box is not cut out before class. I do recommend cutting out the crayons for your child as they can be a bit tricky for young learners.
Supply List
2 page printable (color or black and white copies available) - because this is custom made with your child's name please make sure you provide your child's name when signing up. scissors glue ***if printing in black and white students will need crayons, colored pencils, or markers

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I am a certified teacher with a Bachelor's of Science in Early Childhood Education (Birth to 3rd grade). I was formally trained by Handwriting Without Tears, as well as Zoo Phonics. I have taught numerous children of all backgrounds in person and online using both Handwriting Without Tears and Zoo Phonics. I have taught Preschool through Kindergarten for 5 years, plus 2 years in older grades, as well as my stepdaughters and my daughter using the Handwriting Without Tears method.
