Class Experience

Students will learn reading skills, listening skills, and art skills as they complete a craft with the class. Students will listen to me read them a story called If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff. I will share the pictures from the book then I will show the children how to complete a simple craft project step by step. Students are encouraged to talk during art time and interact with each other.

No background knowledge is required as I will be reading the story. It would be helpful if the children are familiar with using children's scissors and glue for craft time.

Some parent assistance may be needed during craft time if not. Progress is evaluated by their level of excitement for the story and craft!! Students are encouraged to bring their favorite stuffed animal to class

Learning Goals

Students will learn listening skills, we will be cutting with scissors, coloring with crayons, using a glue stick. Using their fine motor and social skills.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I believe reading is the foundation of a child's education. The sooner we get them excited about reading. The sooner they will excel in all areas. Why me? I am offering this class to get children excited about reading and opening up their imaginations. I have owned and operated my own family daycare since 2012. Where I have brought books alive with multiple age groups of children. As I read I engage children during Storytime to help them feel like they are apart of the learning experience. I also homeschool my daughter and reading has been a very important part of her curriculum. By including a craft project with the book, the children can see the story come to life in their hands, and encourage their imaginations. With a printable PDF file for the class.
