Beginner Level
This is an economics lesson for young learners. Students will learn the concepts of unlimited wants, goods, and services. Students will also discuss cause and effect, make predictions, and recall the events in the story. I will be reading aloud the book, "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" by Laura Joffe Numeroff. As a class, the students will answer reading comprehension questions and make predictions of what might happen next. We will go over "needs" and "wants" in a power point slide. Students will also learn about goods and services that are needs and what goods and services are wants. Together, the students and I will start writing our own sentences that following the "If... then" format. The students will then create their own "If... then" sentences. They will draw pictures to go along with their unique sentences. At the end of class, if time allows, the students will present their sentences and drawings to each other (if they want to). Students do not need any prior knowledge before this class.
