What if you had a pet dragon? In this class, we will dive into our imagination and write a journal story about life with a pet dragon. We will engage in conversation as we write and share our thoughts about dragons.

In this one-time class, writers will be encouraged to think outside of the box and imagine if they had a dragon to keep as a pet. Students will engage in conversation and discuss with one another their thoughts of having a dragon as a pet and write a journal entry on their pet dragon. Students will describe their dragon through writing and illustration (where they found their dragon, what it looks like, what it likes to do, how they train their dragon, etc). Students will be encouraged to write descriptively and design a journal story all about their dragon. We will brainstorm ideas as a class to gain inspiration for writing and to encourage creativity. Students will be guided through the writing process.
Learning Goals
Students will practice creative writing and work on improving their writing by including more details.
