US Grade 3 - 5
Beginner Level
In this IEW writing intensive, students write their way through the first seven units. This course is ideal for students who need a refresher or want to sample the IEW writing method. Intensive classes move faster than regular courses, allowing students to complete coursework in one semester. Students reading at a 4th-grade level and higher will delight in the humorous and exciting texts as they learn to write incrementally. Throughout the course, students are provided with clear assignments. These include itemized checklists to ensure everything is in their essay. Combining grammar knowledge with thought-provoking writing topics such as asteroids, animal homes, Louis Braille, Thomas Edison, and Aesop's fables, students will surely succeed in writing essays rich with new words and descriptive sentences. This course is twelve weeks long and provides opportunities for students to read their essays to the class. I will be the editor for students who wish to submit a rough draft for review before turning in their final draft.
Learning Goals
Students will be introduced to IEW's Structure and Style method of writing.
