Teaching Method: The course blends direct instruction, guided practice, and interactive writing activities. Each lesson builds upon previous knowledge, giving students immediate opportunities to apply newly learned skills. Teaching Style: My approach is supportive and organized, with a focus on encouragement. Lessons are engaging and interactive, featuring clear explanations, modeling, and practice in writing. Individualized feedback helps students progress at their own pace and master critical writing concepts. Course Overview: This class is dedicated to refining writing skills through the IEW Structure and Style for Students (SSS) Level A curriculum. Students will focus on essential writing techniques such as effective note-taking, outlining, creating paragraphs, retelling narratives, and summarizing material from references. Topics Covered: Techniques for note-taking and outlining Writing based on notes Retelling narratives Summarizing information from references Using stylistic tools (e.g., strong action verbs, LY adverbs, who/which clauses) Editing and refining writing Weekly Class Structure: Class 1/2: Introduction to new vocabulary, exploration of texts, brainstorming ideas, and organizing outlines. Class 2/2 Review of vocabulary, introduction to stylistic techniques, and guided writing practice with individualized feedback. Student Engagement: Students will engage in the following: Lectures: Detailed explanations of writing strategies. Interactive Activities: Collaborative brainstorming, outlining, and paragraph creation. Games: Fun vocabulary-building exercises. Slides and Visual Aids: Visual tools to help clarify lesson concepts. Discussions: Opportunities to respond to questions and share ideas. Personal Feedback: Both written and verbal feedback tailored to individual writing assignments.
