Welcome to Level 2 of IEW's Fix It! Grammar. If you've joined me for Level 1, you already know what is wrong with this sentence, "can u read this Do you sea the mistakes.” Now it's time to put use those skills you've learned and level up! As a lifelong learner, I too am always striving for growth. After years of using the IEW curriculum, I decided I wanted to share what I had learned with others and became a registered instructor with IEW. (Link for verification: https://iew.com/events-classes/instructors/find-accredited-instructor/330449) I have also been a tutor (teacher) for a local classical co-op, studied through literature seminars, and attended practicums to enhance my own reading and writing knowledge. I am also a certified TESOL/TEFL/EYL teacher, professional writer, beta reader, proofreader, editor, and homeschool mom. I have a love for the English language (I have a BA in English to prove it), the smell of new books, and transferring ideas from mind to paper. My goal is to promote a love of learning while offering a safe and fun environment. I truly have a passion for reading and writing and would love to share my knowledge and experience with your children.
Because this is a flipped model class, learners will be introduced to the material once each week and then assigned homework to complete during the week. Depending on your learner, they may sit down and do all four weekly assignments at once in less than an hour or spend 15-20 minutes per day working on each day's task. Assignments correlate with the weekly lesson as posted in the Class Experience section.
Learners will need to purchase the Student Textbook for this course: IEW Fix It! Grammar - Town Mouse and Country Mouse - https://iew.com/shop/products/fix-it%E2%84%A2-grammar-level-2-town-mouse-and-country-mouse-student-book This book is only purchased once for use in both semesters.
Assessments occur in class as we go over the previous week's corrections.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Level 2 Town Mouse and Country Mouse presumes basic grammar knowledge and Level 1 completion. In this year-long course, learners will be introduced to basic parts of speech, end-mark punctuation, phrases, clauses, homophones, and more. Google Slides will be used to present the content for this course. Kahoot!, Blooket (blooket.com), and Gimkit will be used in class for review and fun. Please note that learners do NOT need an account or to log in to either of these sites. A game code will be presented to learners during class.
