Description
Class Experience
In part six, Outschoolers will learn 16 new vocabulary words, the parts of speech, homophones, and punctuation skills.
As a lifelong learner, I too am always striving for growth. After years of using the IEW curriculum, I decided I wanted to share what I had learned with others and became a registered instructor with IEW. (Link for verification: https://iew.com/events-classes/instructors/find-accredited-instructor/330449) I have also been a tutor (teacher) for a local classical co-op, studied through literature seminars, and attended practicums to enhance my own reading and writing knowledge. I am also a certified TESOL/TEFL/EYL teacher, professional writer, beta reader, proofreader, editor, and homeschool mom. I have a love for the English language (I have a BA in English to prove it), the smell of new books, and transferring ideas from mind to paper. My goal is to promote a love of learning while offering a safe and fun environment. I truly have a passion for reading and writing and would love to share my knowledge and experience with your children.
Because this is a flipped model class, learners will be introduced to the material once each week and then assigned homework to complete during the week. Depending on your learner, they may sit down and do all four weekly assignments at once in less than an hour or spend 15-20 minutes per day working on each day's task.
Learners will need to purchase the Student Textbook (https://iew.com/FIX-1-S) for this course. This book only needs to be purchased once for all parts of the 33-week course (this is just part one containing 4-weeks).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Assessments occur in class as we go over the previous week's corrections.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
