Description

Class Experience

Objective: Students will be able to implement lateral-reading, click restraint and corroboration skills to determine whether the information they're reading is reliable.
I am a U.S. History and Ethnic Studies teacher. I received my master's in education at Stanford where I studied Civic Online Reasoning with other students and professors.
Students will need a google account. We will be using PearDeck to assure maximum student participation.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
given our political climate, there will be a brief conversation about gun ownership without going into details instead, is the information reliable. There will also be a source that speaks about Hilary Clinton. The class is NOT a political class and the conversation will be about “how can we check if this source is reliable”. These are important topics for today’s democracy and it is my duty to make sure everyone feels safe. Mental health and well-being are my priority.
