Discoveries don’t usually come about with someone leaping out of a bathtub shouting “Eureka!” More often than not, discoveries are the result of the coming together of efforts of a lot of different people. This class focuses on ten inventions, theories or discoveries that truly changed the world, and on the people who were involved in the process. The world is big multifaceted place. With that in mind, each class will focus on a different area of science. This interdisciplinary class will be sure to surprise you and to blow your mind! This is an interdisciplinary history of the sciences class meant to bridge the various applied sciences. Topics include: Gaia Theory - The World of Nature Big Bang Theory - The World of Cosmology Quantum Theory - The World of Physics Plastics- The World of Chemistry DNA - The World of Biology Vaccination - The World of Medicine Zero - The World of Math The Wheel - The World of Engineering The Telephone - The World of Technology Writing - The World of Language Classes start week of January 15th, and end week of April 9th. No classes week of February 26, or weeks of March 26 - April 6. Make up class (if instructor cancels session) will take place during week of April 16th.

OTA uses its own VIRTUAL CLASSROOM (Jigsaw) and LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (Canvas) where students can access 24/7 all material needed for class as well as turn in their work and receive feedback, take tests and quizzes, turn in projects and work in cooperative groups. Upon registration, Eva Goldstein-Meola, director at OTA, will send you very specific directions on what to do.
