In this geography class we will learn about the flag, capital, climate, natural wonders such as Gullfoss (Golden Falls) and the indigenous wildlife of the beautiful country of Iceland. Iceland is in the unique location of lying between two continental plates. Therefore, this country is prone to tectonic activity (such as the famous eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull) and has a wealth of geothermal wonders and a tremendous potential for renewable energy. Iceland contains about a staggering 200 volcanoes and one-tenth of the total land area is covered by cooled lava beds and glaciers creating beautiful and awe-inspiring landscapes. Through slides and videos we will virtually explore this beautiful country and the capital city Reykjavik which is the northernmost capital city in the world. There will be an interactive quiz at the end to consolidate knowledge and questions and comments are encouraged throughout in this interactive class.
