It can be hard to talk to someone we don't know YET... but as we go through life there will often be times when we will need to meet, greet, and carry out a conversation with someone new. In this fun, relaxed class, we will explore ways to START and SUSTAIN a conversation and get to meet learners from across the country, or even the world as we do. *EAL, ESL, shy, and neuro-diverse learners are very welcome. For many people their biggest challenges for public speaking are not knowing what to say, or worrying about saying the wrong thing, or thinking they might say something silly. Those worries and challenges are immediately removed in this icebreakers class by us all starting with a fun tongue twister warm-up and using questions where there are, in fact, NO WRONG ANSWERS. Creative, funny, imaginative, or even silly answers are all welcome and even encouraged. Mrs. T will select interesting random icebreaker conversation starter questions from her HAT OF MANY QUESTIONS and will gently encourage every learner to contribute to a conversation. The questions are light topics like what would your superhero power be? would you rather? who would you like to have lunch with? or topics that the learner can contribute to like saying what hobbies they like to enjoy etc. The atmosphere will be VERY relaxed, and VERY supportive, with the idea to engage every learner to say something during the class. This class is also deliberately capped at 8, so every learner gets a chance to speak in a non-intimidating atmosphere. Mrs. T will help keep conversations going with suggestions of further questions (as well as teach learners how to do this themselves). As an experienced confident communications coach, drama teacher, actress, director, and presenter (live, TV, radio, online, and video) Mrs. T knows lots of ways to help and encourage learners to speak their best. As a child who herself struggled to find the confidence to join in conversations, she also completely understands learners' potential battles too, and can even pass on some little tips she's learned, and still uses. This class is great for learners who want to gain confidence for speaking up in ANY class, to develop their communication and/or social skills, or simply try out their talking skills in a supportive, understanding environment. *As all the questions are chosen at random learners are welcome to take this class over and over again. PLEASE MESSAGE ME IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BOOK THIS CLASS AS A 1:1 VERSION.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Non-US Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from University of Southampton
I am a fully qualified teacher (BAPA, PGCE) with 16+ years of experience teaching Drama (and some Music, PSHCE, and English) to 11 to 15 years olds and Performing Arts to 16 to 18 year olds in bricks and mortar schools, where I currently still teach part-time, including running small group and 1:1 confidence building workshops. I also have many years of experience leading community workshop schemes (like create a play in a week) and local drama groups for ages 4 to 16.
As a professional actress, I've performed for children from ages 2-14 in theatres, arts centres, social clubs, historical properties, nurseries, and schools. Playing roles such as the Gingerbread man and a tortoise, to a wartime headmistress and Queen Elizabeth the first! With lots of Q & A and interactive workshops along the way.
I then branched into presenting (live, events, radio, TV, and for holiday companies across Europe) including some Voiceover work. I currently create and present drama and presenter tuition videos.
I have produced and directed many productions (musicals and plays) as well, including some I have written myself.
