Class experience
Students will learn fun facts about dolphins: where they live; how they breathe; what do they like to do; how they sleep; what are baby dolphins called; what is a family of dolphins called? I will use KWL charts to help students organize what they Know; what they Want to know; and what they have Learned in class. We will look at pictures of dolphins. Students will draw a dolphin or dolphins. I will ask questions and have students talk about what they already know about dolphins. ...
Students will improve their understanding of dolphins as living creatures of the seas. They will synthesize facts to become more knowledgeable as they discuss ideas with one another. They will also have an opportunity to share experiences if they have seen dolphins.
A one-page hand-out on dolphins will be provided for print out after the lesson. Students will need paper and pencil for class.
