In this ongoing course, learners will develop their academic English. It is suitable for learners looking to attend university. English for Academic Purposes, or EAP, refers to learning English in order to use it to study another subject. Many universities have pre-sessional EAP courses. Courses concentrate on specific skills the learners will need to benefit from their learning in another language. English for Academic Purposes is a branch of English for Specific Purposes; the latter is a discipline that draws on language, education and studentsβ specialist areas of interest. EAP is used in educational settings and it is aimed at meeting the academic needs of learners of English for study purposes. EAP provides training in English language skills needed for academic study; they include listening comprehension, fluency development, reading, grammar, writing, and vocabulary. Classes are delivered by Experienced Academic English Teachers and ESL Experts. What will we learn? The required materials will be posted to the classroom. Please print out or download the relevant handouts in advance of each class. These will be uploaded to the 'Classroom' at 7pm PST on Sundays each week.
