Class Experience

My “I Wanna Be a Traveler” series offer a variety of classes that focus on places, culture, and humanity—exploring diverse people and locales to add to a learner's someday vacation bucket list!

In this ONGOING class, we will study various United States National Parks via name & location but also explore their unique landscapes, geography, history, local activities, fun facts, and the animals that call that park home.

**Note due to the extensive nature of the class relying heavily on discussion, the class minimum (3 learners) must be met for the class to meet. Notice will be given to parents if there is a cancelation or postponement of a week, etc. I use the Outschool Classroom for all communication.**

This weekly class consists of a mix of teacher-led presentations, personal photos, video clips, virtual maps, drawing, writing in a student-created passport, coloring, as well as active student discussion, perfect for all types of students. This is especially true for those who love or want to travel or for those who just want to get a glimpse of the diverse beauty that is evident in the U.S. National Park system or those who love animals or for those just wanting to be creatively social learning about USA geography.

Learning about national landscapes, how they were formed, the animals that call them home, and other fun facts increase learner's appreciation of the world.

3 or more of these topics will be discussed in each class:
State: Geography, Top Landmarks, Regional Food
State park: History, Landscape/geology, Animals, Fun things to do, Where to stay, plants/flowers, How to get there

The class structure allows for varying learning styles, attention spans, interests, and special needs. I believe in effort. Effort in trying, the process, curiosity, wonder, and thinking! These principles, along with kindness will be guides in our class discussions and activities.

We take frequent movement breaks to help with attention.

I am passionate about interest-led-learning. As a world traveler and a person who loves to learn about other cultures, this class fits well into that passion.

This class is perfect for all types of students. Especially true for those who love or want to travel or for those who just want to get a glimpse of the diverse beauty that is evident in the U.S. National Park system or those who love animals.

As a continual learner (a person always thinking, wondering, and asking WHY) -- I strive to inspire all of my students that same passion--to be curious-minded to the world around them. To be playful. To be passionate. To be Adventurous. To be a mistake maker. To be a learner who has no boundaries!
