This class is taught in English.
Learners will be able to say beginning letter sounds h, j, u, and l. They will begin to identify words and objects that go with the sound. Finally, they will be able to identify beginning letter sounds in their own home environment.
My training in speech articulation, English as a Second Language training, and early childhood programming allows me to teach proper pronunciation of letter sounds. I am also knowledgeable in making specific adjustments for each child. I teach letter sounds prior to letter recognition (Montessori-inspired method) because this encourages learners to easily spell and read words later on.
1 file available upon enrollment- Handouts given by the teacher before our class - Crayons, colored pencils, or markers *optional: learners are welcome to bring Montessori sandpaper letters or a moveable alphabet, if they would like to.
I will assess each student's ability before teaching sounds and after teaching sounds. I use an "I do, we do, you do" approach for assessment. I will teach the sounds, we will practice together, then they will have a chance to share what they learned.
