Class Experience

In this on going class, students will learn new French vocabulary, basic greetings and simple phrases through voice variation and repetition. There will be a new theme every week and we will end class with a game of “I SPY” in French.

This is a beginner level French class and no prior French knowledge is needed. Please note some instructions will be given in English to ensure student understanding.

There will be target vocabulary words that we will be working on each class. At the beginning of every lesson, we will start by learning basic greetings so that the students can introduce themselves in French. We will then jump into a powerpoint presentation where students will be introduced to the new topic through pictures and visuals. This will involve a lot of student interaction through speaking & repetition. We will then complete a vocabulary worksheet together that will be provided prior to class. We will end the class with a game of “ I SPY” using French sentence structures and the targeted vocabulary learned.

Below is an example of the class structure:
- [Introductions] : “Bonjour, je m’appelle ______.” (“Hello, My name is______.”)
- [Repetition] of target vocabulary through visuals and pictures
- [Question & Answer] I will first model the question : “Que vois-tu?” (“What do you see?”) the student will then answer “Je vois un(e) ____” (“I see a ______”)

Students are also encouraged to repeat the targeted vocabulary in French as they are coloring throughout the class.

Repetition for language learning is essential and will play a huge role in this class. Learning a new language can be overwhelming for new learners, the purpose of this class is to make language learning fun, in a relaxed atmosphere so that the students can be comfortable all while learning French.

Hello! Bonjour! I was born and raised in Switzerland until I was 10 years old. I grew up in a bilingual family where we spoke both English and French. I have a 2 year old old son that I am teaching French as well. Because of my background, I understand the importance of learning a new language at such an early age.

I also come from an artistic background. My mother is a children’s book illustrator so art runs in my blood. I love speaking French and I love art and I want my classes to incorporate my love for both! I received my Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and a concentration in Economics. I have been teaching English as a Second language online since 2018 and have taught thousands of classes. I am a also a hiring-help mentor for future and aspiring teachers in the ESL teaching community. Additionally, I have tutored a variety of subjects including, English and French. I've created my classes based on my love for languages, art and many of my classes are inspired from my son's interests as well. I am so excited to use our creativity and learn French as well as share my other passions with you!
