Does your child have difficulty calming down? Does he/she not know what to do with their feelings when they get upset?This is a one time class that explores some easy to use mindfulness strategies to help children calm down.

In this one time live class, Teacher Sandy and guest Teacher Morgan will start off by asking what causes us anger and then have a student led discussion about what is anger and why/when do we feel it. Next, we will go over and teach mindfulness strategies to cope with anger and frustration. The strategies will be modeled and then practiced with the students. Students will learn strategies to help calm themselves through mindfulness when feeling angry or upset. Strategies include deep breathing exercises, rating scale and labelng anger in the body.
Sandra Arntzen has taught at Mc Lean Hospital in Boston and at the ECPHP Program at UCLA and has experience working with a range of social emotional issues with families.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
