Description

Class Experience

Students will practice close-reading strategies, make connections between literature and their own lives, and develop their listening and speaking skills. They will learn to elaborate on their own ideas and respond to and build on contributions from others. In addition, students will find support and learn how to be empathic as they discuss their personal feelings.
Students should be able to read about 75 pages a week.
Teacher will provide a handout of discussion questions a few days before class. Students may look these over and use them to guide their reading and thinking but there is no expectation that students will prepare any written responses.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 4+ hours per week outside of class.
