Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 2
In this class we are going to talk about the "c/k" sound. Students will learn to listen for the short and long vowel sounds, differentiate between the vowel sounds, and then choose "c" or "k" to start the words. We will start our class with a short "Show and Tell"; students can bring something to class to share with their friends that starts with "c or k".
In this class students will receive teacher instruction; interact with the teacher and their classmates. They will participate with fun activities and games to practice spelling the words correctly using "c" and "k". Students will also have an opportunity to bring things to class so they can participate in a guessing game with their classmates.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Parri!
I am so excited to be teaching with Outschool. I hope to teach classes in Phonics, Math, Art, and Sea Glass.
I have been teaching for 28 years; I taught for 25. 5 years in a Brick and Mortar school and for 2.5 years online. I have taught Reading, Language, Phonics, Literature, Spelling, Math, Social Studies, Canadian Studies, and Science. I LOVE teaching Phonics and Reading. Online I have been teaching children ages 4-14 to speak English. I also do tutoring with these ages and in these subjects both online and in person.
I believe teaching should be fun and at the same time assist students to reach their highest potential. I like to teach using games and activities that encourage learning in a fun way! I want my students to know I care about them and their learning.
One of the first classes I hope to teach is one about Sea Glass; I LOVE the beach. Since I was a child, I have been roaming beaches looking for sea glass; I also love making things with the glass too!
I look forward to meeting your child and having lots of fun learning together!
