I Can Write an Essay! (Ages 8 - 9)

In this two day class, we will focus on the writing process.  Students will grow confidence while writing an essay!

Day 1 - Students will begin class by learning about transition words, adjectives, and adverbs to help their writing flow smoothly. Students will have time to generate a list of transition words and descriptive words that they would like to use. Then, we will discuss topics that each student would like to write about. Students will have time to write 1 paragraph. Then, we will share our writings by reading them aloud. Students will be asked to think about how to continue their writing. They will not have homework.

Day 2 - Students will begin class by reviewing transition words, adjectives, and adverbs that were discussed on Day 1. Students will have time to write two additional paragraphs for their essay. The final result will be an essay with an introduction, body paragraph, and conclusion. Students will share their writing. Students and teachers will discuss the writings together to identify how to add more details.

Policies: This class is open for 1, 2, or 3 learners. I do not cancel classes due to low enrollment.  If it is important to you that your child be in a class with other students, please let me know, and then I will be sure to let you know if only 1 student has enrolled.
