Class Experience

I love engaging students in word play, and there is no better hook for young readers than Dr. Seuss. Phonemic awareness and sound/letter correspondence are essential building blocks for reading success, and this class will help your child build those skills in a fun, engaging way. As always, my ultimate goal is to help your child love reading!
Handouts will be provided at no extra charge. You will want to have copies of the four books: Green Eggs and Ham, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, The Foot Book, and I can Read with My Eyes Shut. You can borrow the books from the library, or buy them from any bookstore.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
2 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
This content is entirely appropriate for young children, but I encourage parents to sit in on the class and play with us! Many of these games and activities will be easy for you to do again later with your child to reinforce what we are learning in class.
