Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
This is a class that begins by the teacher showing the letter of the alphabet, and having students repeat each letter after the teacher. Students will learn by repetition, recognition, and by auditory and tactile stimulation by touching and circling the letters (e.g. differentiating uppercase from lowercase). Students will be able to use interactive functions of Zoom, such as drawing, writing, and using the whiteboard. To build language skills and introduce fun activities, the teacher will have two exercises:

1) Having students repeat six words that start with the letter.
2) The teacher reads the rhyming sentence related to the picture and letter being taught.

The wrap-up for the lesson is done by the teacher showing the letter and asking students to repeat it and give a word that starts with the letter. This is for reinforcement and understanding. Each class is 30 minutes, and students will meet twice per week for 3 weeks. There will also be exercise in-between where students will fill in the blanks for the alphabet letters covered at a certain point.

Teaching goals:
Teach students to say the letter of the alphabet for the lesson
Auditory practice with the letter sound being taught
Visual practice with letter recognition
Verbal practice with the pronunciation of the letter being taught
Language skills development with saying words that begin with the letter being taught
Foundation for reading skills by showing students how letters form words in sentences

Learning Objectives:
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
1.	Say the entire alphabet fluently
2.	Pronounce each letter correctly
3.	Recognize letters of the alphabet from each other
4.	Identify the sequence of letters in the alphabet
5.	Say words that begin with letters of the alphabet
6.	Read some simple and common words by recognition
7.	Trace each upper and lower case letters of the alphabet
Learning Goals
This class is designed specifically for parents or caring adults to sit with children ages 3-5, and teach them the alphabet. There is not a more nurturing environment than this for a child’s first
structured learning experience. In almost all cultures, children learn language skills from hearing the adults around them speak. Therefore, it should be rewarding to hear your child repeat the letters and words after you. Enjoy!
