I Can Read! Kindergarten Guided Reading Lessons: New/ Beginning Readers
In this ongoing class, students will receive small group guided reading instruction. This class covers all 5 components of reading, including comprehension and vocabulary, to develop young readers in every way.

In this ongoing class, students continue to learn to read within a small guided reading group. This group is for students who are already somewhat familiar with reading. They should already be aware of one to one correspondence. They should have some sight word knowledge, and they should be familiar with most or all of their letter sounds. This course will focus on reading multiple words on a page, combing sound clues with picture cues, sounding out words, and learning specific phonics concepts. The teacher will also briefly review 2-4 sight words per session. The students will read 1 to 2 printable books per session with prompting and support from the teacher. The teacher will guide students through answering comprehension questions after reading to develop comprehension skills. The teacher will also review 1-3 vocabulary words and provide some phonemic awareness instruction. By the conclusion of the lesson, students will have strengthened their skills in all 5 areas of reading.
