Class Experience
Although we will still be inviting our stuffed animals into our intros by sharing our names and giving the stuffed animal a squeeze or a hug, breathing like butterflies to center our hearts, minds, and spirits, hopping around on one foot like bunny rabbits, penguins, and tigers, balancing like a mighty warrior, climbing, flying, and even dancing through the sky, we will also be given the opportunity to practice and progress in our learning and to seek out and find our individual strengths, as...
Students will learn basic breathing techniques, how to connect movement & fun through safe and easy balancing poses, and ways to self regulate, as well as having an opportunity to explore the philosophy of yoga and its connection to their everyday lives.
I have been teaching children's yoga and swimming lessons for two years, and my background includes two years overseas in a Montessori style environment, so that combined with the standard 200 hour RYS (registered yoga school) teacher training makes my yoga philosophy pretty simple: as long as you are on the mat, you are doing yoga. This is especially useful for situations that are outside of the norm (i.e. the world we are currently living in) and teaching yoga to a young age demographic. In addition, I like to connect with my students and involve them in the class creation, so I often ask children to suggest additional poses with their favorite animals, etc.
A Yoga Mat and a Stuffed Animal that You Really Like or Love.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please convey the following information to your child: asanas, or yoga postures, mean postures easily held. If it’s too hard or if it hurts, you can stop! You may rest at any time during the class. It is important in yoga that you listen to your body, do only what feels safe to you, and respect your body's limits on any given day. In addition, please make sure to provide an open workout space, slip proof socks or bare feet, and a yoga surface that is slip resistant. Thanks in advance for your continual commitment to the safety and well being of your children!

About Me
My "why" for teaching comes from a desire to offer courses that are both trauma informed and trauma sensitive, and for this reason, movement in my classes is focused on being autonomous and self-directed, i.e. if you are on the mat, you are doing...
