US Grade 9 - 11
This introduction to Human Biology will familiarize you with the parts of the microscope, beginning chemistry, cell structures, and bones of the skull. This is a lecture-based class for those who want to learn the basics of human biology. There will be worksheets to test your memory and engage you in the covered topics. You can take this class for a grade or you can simply take it as a non-graded participant. In either case, all students will be asked to participate in questions and answers sequences and discussions. Week 1 will look at the parts of the microscope and begin basic chemistry. Week 2 will look at the basic structure of elements on the periodic table. Week 3 will discuss the differences between plant and animal cells along with organelles. Week 4 will look at the bones of the skull and finalize topics already covered.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to recognize the parts of the microscope. Students will learn the set-up of the periodic table and be able to draw the basic model structure of any element. Students will learn the three organelles which make the plant cell unique and be familiar with the basic organelle parts and function. Teacher expertise and credentials
Wisconsin Teaching Certificate in Science
Hello,
I am Ms. Jill. I am excited to be apart of Outschool.
I have a background in biology which has allowed me to teach science in the classroom and to learn about science in nature. You may find me with my horse or dog having adventures in the woods. I love all kinds of science.
For many years I worked with Hmong people as they assimilated into my town in Wisconsin, USA. I have also worked with Chinese students both online and in the classroom. I enjoy meeting new people in this way and making our world a little smaller.
At the heart of everything is science and wellness because it allows us to do all sorts of things and to be better humans. I taught Human Biology to beginning nursing students at Northcentral Technical College, Wausau, Wi. I love testing myself to remember the skeletal bones of the body.
This makes Halloween a favorite time for me!!
I have always enjoyed teaching that inspires. Now, I hope to do that here at Outschool. I like having fun with facts and the freedom of our imaginations. Join me, won't you?
