I Am Connected: Yoga & Meditation
Tiya Maynard
Move, breathe, and meditate to feel more grounded and connected to the world around you.
Class experience
Yogis will learn through live guidance and demonstrations. They will be free to ask questions throughout practice and also offer encouragement to their fellow yogis during practice. Each practice will begin with the introduction of breath work (pranayama) for centering our attention and setting the intention for practice with a specific mantra or "I am" statement. Then we will begin to gently move our bodies to warm up before moving into our sequence of postures (asana). Yogis will learn...
Each yogi will gain: - tools to create and maintain inner peace and deal with stress - more tools to be the best human they can be by applying basic yogic principles to everyday life - increased body awareness - tools to help them feel more grounded and connected to their bodies - increased ability to concentrate and focus - increased self-awareness - the physical and emotional benefits of the practice of yoga - foundational yoga poses
Yoga is a way of life, not just postures and stretches that I practice on the mat, and I am very passionate about sharing this practice with others. Yoga is a practice in which I have invested over eight years of study, and I continue to study every day through my personal practice, self-study, reading, attending workshops, and more. My approach to guiding others through their yoga practice is love-driven and encourages freedom. All yogis are encouraged to listen to their bodies, thoughts, and emotions and move in the ways that feel best for them. It is my goal to help yogis create a personal practice that will help them navigate life in a way that brings them more peace, love, and ease. I share what I know and what I personally practice.
During class: Yogis should wear comfortable clothing. You can use a yoga mat, blanket, or large towel on which to practice. Pillows or cushions can also be used to sit on during meditation. If you have blocks, you can have them handy however they are not mandatory to have for practice. Be sure to have a strap or belt to use for stretching. If you are a yogi who has difficulty getting up and down on the mat, have a chair nearby for added support.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
