Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Beginner Level
In this bird drawing class, students will draw a colourful hummingbird in flight. We start our guided lesson with a simple pencil sketch to capture the shape of our tiny bird. Then, we blend layers of coloured pencil shades to create realistic feathers and wings. The artists are shown how to add creative flowers or leaves in the background with bright waves of colour.

I pause and chat throughout the class to keep a supportive and suitable pace for everyone. I use a second camera so that our artists can easily follow the drawing process. We share fun facts about hummingbirds throughout the class.

The artists are encouraged to show their drawings to the class if they would like to. My
step-by-step lessons are filled with cheerful praise and upbeat energy. We always celebrate the wonderful range of artistic skills the students bring to class.
