US Grade 2 - 5
-Journey through the various systems of the human body! Each week students will cover a different topic in Human Biology through an interactive presentation. Feel free to bring any related books, facts or knowledge that you have uncovered outside of class to share with us. After an engaging discussion of the new topic in Human Biology we complete a hands on craft or model of the new topic. Week 1- DNA: The material that carries all the information about how a living thing will look and function. Project: We will make a candy model of DNA. Requires twizzlers, toothpicks and gummy candy such as Dots. Week 2-The Cell: The smallest unit with the basic properties of life. Project: Make model of a cell out of felt. Supplies used include felt or construction paper and scissors. Can use needle and thread to sew together. Week 3- The Lungs: The respiratory system allow us to breathe. Project: Make your own paper bag lungs. Requires paper bags, markers, tape and straws. Week 4- The Circulatory System: Made up of blood vessels that carry blood away from and towards the heart. Project: Build a pump to replicate the pumping action of the heart. Requires two jars, 4 straws, tape, water, at least 3 deflated balloons and food coloring.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of a variety of bodily systems and features including the most basic of human building blocks such as DNA or cells. Students will develop their critical thinking skills, asking and answering questions about the human body.

All handouts and supply lists will be provided one week before the session.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
