The class will be taught in a factual and nonjudgmental fashion, in which students are encouraged to ask questions and develop intellectual curiosity about the topics presented. Lecture, PPT presentations, colorful illustrations & graphics, instructor and student interaction & discussions, messages throughout the week, YouTube videos and the use of Kahoot will be utilized in course delivery. While completing this course, students will acquire an understanding of normal anatomy and physiology, of physiological adaptations to special conditions, and of some of the physiological factors in disease processes.
I am a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Nursing Science from Norfolk State University and a Masters in Nursing Education from South University. I served as a Preschool, First and Second Grade Teacher and School Nurse at Virginia Beach School of the Arts for three years. I have also taught human anatomy and physiology classes in William & Mary's Gifted Enrichment Program to elementary school aged learners. I currently teach Medical Assisting and Nursing students at Bryant & Stratton College in the classroom and in clinical settings.
Students will be assigned homework every week, to include reviewing assigned PowerPoint slides and answer quiz questions. Each student will complete homework independently. Homework will typically take one to two hours hour each week.
Curriculum materials will be provided by the instructor.
Students will have weekly pretests/posttests based on the topics assigned.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
We will learn about human anatomy and physiology, including the human reproductive system.
